Saving the Web Page Adding and Editing Text Adding and Editing Pictures Working in Test sections Adding keywords to your web page for search engines Adding a description to your web page for search engines Adding a title to your web page for search engines
Fig: 1.0: The Presentation Page

The 'Presentation' page above (Fig 1.0) is what you are currently viewing and is used for adding and editing text and pictures in a web page.

When adding to and editing your website text and pictures it is important to firstly consider how search engines work:

Search Engine Optimizing:
Primarily, Search Engines like Google (www.google.com) look for three things in your web page to give it a higher ranking over other similar websites:
1. The web page title
2. The web page description
3. Web page key words

  1. Adding a title to your web page for search engines
The title of your web page is displayed to your website users at the very top of the internet browser window, and is looked at by search engines, so think carefully before entering a title.

To add a title to your web page for search engines: type your chosen title in to the text box under the heading 'Title for search engines' (see number 1 on Fig 1.0).

  2. Adding a description to your web page for search engines
The description that you enter into the description text box will be displayed to search engine users, so think carefully about what you wish your website visitors to read. A description is usually in the form of an informative welcome message.

To add a description to the web page, type the text you want to use into the textbox under the heading 'Description for search engines' (see number 2 on Fig 1.0).

  3. Adding keywords to your web page for search engines
To add keywords for search engines, type the keywords you want to use into the textbox below the heading 'Keywords for search engines' (see number 3 on Fig 1.0). Try to use between 10 and 25 keywords because having too many keywords can cause a negative search engine effect.

You must separate each word with a comma, for example: Bay of Plenty, beach, East Coast, sunny, Tauranga, surf, etc.

    Web page text and pictures:
Please Note: Search engines also look at the text on your website when ranking your site against others, so it pays to think carefully about the wording you use.

  4. Working in Text sections
When adding text and pictures to a web page it is important to know that text is added in sections and then within each of these text sections, a picture can also be added.
To select your text section, choose from the options in the 'section selector panel' found under the textbox (see Fig 2.0 below).

  5. Fig: 2.0: Use this section selector panel under the textbox to choose which section you want to see

  6. Adding and Editing Text
The textbox on your web pages' Presentation Page is used to add text to the web page.

Firstly, remember to add text in sections using the 'section selector panel' (see Fig 2.0). You will also need to consider the placement of text next to pictures, within these sections - for example, you do not want to have a picture of a swimming pool next to text describing a conference room. (Remember that text is added to a web page in sections and then for each section of text, a picture can be added).

To format your text (existing or new text) highlight the text and then use the text formatting tools in the panel above the textbox (like Microsoft Word), see Fig 4.3 below:

  8. Adding and Editing Pictures

Under the title 'Pictures for presentation' (see Fig 4.0) are the controls for adding a picture to each block of text (remember that blocks are selected by using the 'section selector panel', see Fig 2.0).

Please note: Some image manipulation knowledge may be required to successfully upload your images to the web page (image file size) and look correct (dimensions). Cheap or even free software may be found through www.download.com or www.google.com for image manipulation. Use keywords to search such as "image", "resizing", "optimization" (shrinking file size) and other relevant keywords. A good free piece of software called Irfanview is available at: http://tucows.inspire.net.nz/adnload/194967_75076.html, note: no support will be given for this software product unless you have a support package from us.

Images need to be below 100kb in file size to upload to a web page successfully.

Fig 4.0: The controls for adding pictures to text blocks. Click the browse button to select an image to upload.

The most important control for uploading images is the browse button which allows you to browse your computer and select which picture you would like to use.

Blow up picture: Tick to display the uploaded image as a small image which pops up a larger image when clicked on.
Border: Tick to add a nice border to the image

Description: Add a description to the uploaded image (good for search engines)
Show text below pic: Tick to show the added description below the uploaded picture (not necessary to do for all picures)
Tick to delete: If a picture is already uploaded onto the viewed text block, you can tick ‘tick to delete’ to delete it

Link: Add a web address to have the picture become a hyperlink
New Window: Tick to have a hyperlinked image open a new browser window for the linked web page
Format Selector: Define what type of file has been uploaded (image, Virutal Tour, or pdf). This control is for advanced users only.

  9. Saving the Web Page
When you have finished adding text and images to a point where you would like to save your work, you have two options:
    Save:
The ‘Save’ button will save all your work on the web page and send you back to the Site Administration Page.
    Save and Preview:
The ‘Save and Preview’ button will save your work and allow you to see the completed web page as the public would see it.

Please Note: If you have any ammendments or changes you would like to see made to the supplied online help files please do not hesitate to email them to support@reservenewzealand.com. We welcome your thoughts.
